Sharing some favorites tweed outfits I have at the moment as this fabric is perfect for autumn season when the weather start to be slightly colder. For the little history and some culture tweed was born in Scotland and Ireland in the 19s century. Tweed takes its origin in these lands with a cold and humid climate. It was first to used to make clothing for farmers who worked outdoors as tweed resists wind and rain well while keeping the heat.

Tweed clothing later became popular in all outdoor sporting and hunting activities of the British aristocracy. It became “gentlemen’s” business with Prince Albert acquiring the Balmoral estate and created “Balmoral Tweed” as the British aristocracy and middle class were willing to follow the trend instaured. The tweed style then became the most popular trend which persisted over time.

Thanks to the endless creativity of legendary designer Coco Chanel, tweed became the most sought-after fabric for the elite and bourgeoisie, with a high price tag. And since then, tweed fabric has been one of the most popular materials for creating the chicest and most elegant outfits in women’s and men’s ready-to-wear.

That’s why tweed fabric is often referred as an elegant fabric which is worn by the bourgeoisie. We see it as an expensive looking material for a classy outfit and this is mainly due to its origin we are often not aware of. I hope you liked this little history, I will share more tips about Tweed and How to choose an expensive looking tweed on a budget in the next posts.

I linked all the outfits below if you wish to find them all.
